Yesterday, after-school session, one student (aged between 13 to 14 years) came to me and asked, ‘Sir, I want to become a doctor, but my friend want to become a football coach, so should I become a football coach, a doctor or an Engineer because my mama want me to become an engineer’. Well, I must say, the struggle was real. As a teacher, we always expect outstanding performance from our students in the classrooms. To make sure, we devise our lesson plans with tons of interactive and performance as well as paper-based activities. In the end, our differentiated teaching approach ended up on different types of assessment where we measure students’ learning. During my days, the maximum technological tools provided and used by the school was a one-hour computer session once a week in which we learn basic computer programs and their functions. This trend has drastically changed over the past two decades. The black/green board and chalks/markers are now replaced by Smartboards, Google boards and high-tech multimedia equipment.
