While working on my assignment, I analysed my previous year student classwork task (I usually take snaps of my classroom activities and students’ performance to later show them to parents in PTMs). I found a student note in which he asked me a series of questions about the question I asked during the session on Crusades. I smile for a moment because suddenly, the whole school term just flashed into my eyes, reminding me how different and curious today’s generation is. I wonder, what makes them question the question or even question the reason?  Is it a student’s way to explore reasons for the reason, or is it just a time-killing strategy? Today, I become a part of a discussion, or rather an argument, at my workplace. The topic of our debate was does working in silence would help to complete the assigned task more effectively rather than working with some sound or music. Well, the discussion ended with no conclusion, but this discourse reminded me of my class of 2015 where one student always wears earphones whenever she was given classwork or an activity task. At first that behaviour irritates me, but upon asking, she said ‘Sir, wearing earphones and listening music helps me concentrate on the task’. There is a new campaign introduced by the French President Emmanuel Macron in September 2018; children are not allowed to bring any smart or cellular devices along with them in the classrooms. According to the French news service The Local, ‘This law will reduce distraction in the classroom, combat bullying, and encourage children to be more physically active during recess’. Last Week, a parent came to me and shared that Inara (made-up name) lacks concentration in class-tasks and her class teacher always complains about Inara’s lack of concentration in classwork. This phenomenon is called ‘Distractibility’ and is common nowadays in both Eastern and Western countries. Commonly, these symptoms associated with the term ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), according to which, students continuously forget things, make careless mistakes and seem like they are daydreaming in sessions and activities.
